Degree Overview

There’s never been a more important time to study Politics and International Relations. As we all try to navigate the climate change emergency, global conflicts, Brexit, and economic challenges in a post-pandemic world, studying a Politics and International Relations degree at Roehampton will give you the knowledge and the tools to understand how we got here, and how we can create a better future. Through the core modules, students will learn in class how to apply the skills of negotiation in different situations and how to apply leadership and communication skills. Allied to this solid practical dimension you will receive a strong grounding in the conceptual and theoretical approaches to the study of politics, and in the sources and methods used in political analysis. BA Politics and International Relations at Roehampton is designed with a strong emphasis on International Relations and global politics. You will look at key global issues including human rights, political resistance and violence, climate change and the politics of gender, race and class. You will also have the opportunity to specialise in the politics of particular regions, through modules that focus on, for example, the Middle East, North America, Russia, China and the Global South. You will also get a fundamental understanding of the history of political ideas and political systems. The programme will look at local politics and political parties in Britain, and the operations of government at the highest levels in Westminster. Our London location gives us unique opportunities to see the political system in action. We have a dynamic and diverse student body, with students joining us from all over the world.
