Degree Overview 

The bachelor in Business will include domestic and international learners with the academic entry requirements to achieve success and the required English Language proficiency. Other target learners include mature learners as well as school leavers and the programme is also accessible to learners who wish to access the programme at stage 2 or 3 through the College processes for Recognition of Prior Learning, formal in the case of transfer students or informal or non-formal in the case of experienced applicants with a significant portfolio of prior experience.

This proposed programme is intended to provide learners with a broad-based, modern and relevant business degree, addressing all key areas of business; management and organisation, finance, human resources, marketing, law and governance, ICT, mathematics, statistics and economics. The programme (its content, and skills / knowledge structure) has been informed by an analysis of skills requirements, research and stakeholder engagement, including employers, recruiters, and existing learners.

On successful completion of the Bachelor in Business you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate specialised knowledge across a number of key integrated areas of business, to include management and organisation (accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, strategy), legal, ICT and economics such that the application of this breath of knowledge in appropriate business scenarios can be achieved.
  • Review theories, frameworks and models across various business sub-fields, showing limitations of current knowledge in various business contexts. Identification of new knowledge and integration of concepts across a variety of areas
  • Demonstrate and communicate a range of skills acquired across the programme, particularly in creatively solving business problems, using appropriate software, and presenting the results to a select audience.
  • Select and apply appropriate judgement and tools in planning and designing solutions to predefined business problems, for structured semi-structured and unstructured problems.
  • Interpret business problems within their context boundaries, draw on appropriate knowledge and analysis of data to provide a solution to these contextualised problems.
  • Maintain personal integrity that supports an environment built on trust, and supports personal and organisational development. Collaborate constructively in the work of a diverse group, taking on a leadership role, as well as becoming self-directed and self-aware as an individual.
  • Take responsibility for their own learning, identifying their own learning needs and that of their learning group, and have the ability to enhance their learning competencies through a variety of learning activities and assessments.
  • Reflect on and express their internalised view of the modern business world, its wider social, legal, ethical and operational environment, with due respect to the players and stakeholders in the business environment.

Entry Requirements:
Grade O6/H7 or better in 5 Leaving Certificate subjects including English and Mathematics.
Or
Overseas equivalent qualifications.

These need to be appropriately aligned with the corresponding QQI standard for a level-7 Business award. If you are
presenting with a qualification from overseas, this will be subject to checks. IBAT College Dublin uses a number of
comparison systems, such as the NARIC Qualifications Recognition system, to compare and establish equivalency of
international academic awards.

  • Proof of Finance Requirement: International Students that require a student visa to study in Ireland must provide evidence to the Irish Visa Issuing Authority that they or their sponsor have sufficient funds (€10,000 per year) to cover their costs of living in Ireland whilst studying.   • Medical Insurance Requirement: All Visa requiring international students are required to have private medical insurance, either personally or through a group scheme at time of registration. To support you meeting this requirement IBAT College’s can provide an approved insurance policy, which the College purchases for you upon receipt of full payment.
  • Learner Protection Policy (English Language programmes) IBAT College Dublin is a member of Marketing English in lreland (MEl), www.mei.ie. Marketing English in lreland (MEl) member schools espouse Learner Protection, thereby being able to guarantee to students that they will be able to complete all language courses for which they are enrolled. This policy is set out as a condition of membership within the MEI Bye-Laws Section 2.3 (E) "ln the interests of Learner Protection MEI members must agree that, in the event of an MEI school going unexpectedly out of business, they will accept students whose course of tuition in the closed school has not yet expired. The allocation of such students to member schools will be managed by the MEI office."
  • Protection for Enrolled Learners Learner Protection is provided by Arachas Learner Protection Programme and underwritten by Aviva Insurance Ltd. The current fee is 3.5% of the tuition fee. Protection of Enrolled Learners in accordance with section 65(4)(b) of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 (hereafter the 2012 Act), are covered under this agreement for the duration of the agreement.
